Though we've mostly been discussing anomie with relation to Native American termination and Winter in the Blood, it's also worth remarking that the concept can be applied to other places and times. Indeed, many commentators have suggested that we're currently living in a period of anomie, as rapid and wholesale changes to our society have caused "the breakdown of previously shared norms and values that regulated social (inter)actions." helpfulprofessor.com/anomie-examples/#ConclusionWondering if we agree with this? Are people losing their sense of social belonging and connection to others? Are we seeing a breakdown of the social order? And if so, is there any way to address this?

I do believe we are entering some sort of modern anomie. Although this doesn't mean it's a bad time. With the continued emergence of the LGBTQ+ community, many social norms I grew up with have somewhat been tossed out the window. Much of the generation I am a part of has been open to this change, I'm not sure if that still makes it anomie, but the generation before is much more closed off. As far as a way to address this, I believe we should welcome the anomie. A world with more love and care is needed.
