I was thinking of expanding on one of the weekly writings from earlier in the semester for my final essay in the class. I want to focus on the attempted societal unification during the Age of Anxiety. Particularly focusing on the reintegration of people affected by the war. I think that Barbary Shore and Bless Me, Ultima will be the main primary sources so far, but from what I can gather from the back cover of Citizen 13660, Okubo's novel may get a mention or two as well.

Should be fruitful, Mitchell--- I wonder if "social unification" and "reintegration" are synonyms here, though-- it does seem like there's some distance between them. I will say, having read Citizen 13660 before, that there's not a lot of it that occurs after the war...
I suppose "attempted" is the key word in your proposal. To what extent was this successful? Has the U. S. ever had a unified society? (Perhaps in a time of war...)(Not the Revolutionary War or Civil War or Vietnam War)(But if there ever was a time, it would have been WWII, right?)
